When I was younger, I didn’t know how to appreciate the imperfections or complexity in someone’s voice. I wasn’t too concerned with how accurate the singing was either. What drew me to a song back then was often the subtle emotion or unique personality it carried. As I grew older and gained a deeper understanding of how life itself is full of complexities and imperfections, I started to appreciate those very same qualities in music.
